Pomona Swap Meet

The P-Town gatherings are a norm for us So Cali Vintage Car Enthusiasts. But this one I’m excited about. My 1971 Westfalia has been sitting for a long time, 6 months to be exact. Or should I say, since the last Pomona Swap meet I drove it to, April 13th.  What a feeling it was driving out of the driveway and out into the open road. Prior to arriving at the freeway off ramp, I wanted to keep driving. Towards Joshua Tree or San Onofre?? I did pull off and collected Pück at our normal meeting point. As usual, the line getting in was insane. Packed with eager enthusiast, like myself, and awaiting to get in to the massive event. Once parked, I set up the ride as if I were showing it for the chance at a trophy. Ha ha ha ha. Fuck that! You know what happened the last time I did that. Any hoot, all my buddies, the GFK, were in full force. Music, beers and the grill going full speed. This event always brings out folks from every corner of this planet. Different languages are heard as you chill drinking your pint. Though I hung out inside my ride. Full on luxury and comfort, well for this event. The best part of this event is that it was not scorching hot like the last one.  The August event got to the triple digits by 10:00 am. A stroll around the parts area and the show & shine parking lot was indeed needed. So many beautiful cars show up for this event. It’s all about hanging out with your buddies, showing off your ride and a good bbq, and the beers isn’t a bad idea either. Needless to say, this P-Town gathering was a good one. Also, this one by far has been one of the biggest gatherings yet! I haven't seen a P-Town gathering like this in way over 20 years.

Now this ride it worth mentioning. It's an all original 1951 Chevy. BAD ASS. The real deal, a true survivor.

This turned out to be a good Pomona, and I was SUPER happy about having one of my buses on the road. Though stay tuned, been working on the motor for Baboon. That should be on the road soon.
