Now we are going backwards, basically the starting point of my March trip back to mi tierra, Euskal Herria. Let me first start off that I have not returned to El Pais Vasco ( The Basque Country) in 5 years. That is a long time going out with Sidra, Txipirones, Pintxos and dancing goats. (The Gitanos play the accordion while the goats dance around. Really funny!) Needless to say the journey heading out there was very long and hard on my body, now that I’m older. So off I flew into the air for a 12 hour flight to Paris, France. Though the flight didn’t seem as long? Go figure? Any hoot, I arrive at this massive airport and head over to my connecting flight to Bilbao, Basque Country. A few hours later I’m in Bilbao and my Primo, Borja, is there to collect me though in typical Basque fashion ….. sporting the Txapela! Waiting for me in the car was mi sobrino, Jon! Cute little boy with an endless smile and tons of energy. His mother, Bea, tells me she has to trick him into sleeping. Long story. So off we went. Our first stop was a the Castle of Butrón, which is located in Gatika, the northern region of the Basque Country (España). After this quick pit stop .......... on my way to stuff my face with 5 years of over due of eating Croquetas de Jamón!
After this quick pit stop .......... on my way to stuff my face with 5 years of over due of eating Croquetas de Jamón!
And complimenting the Croquetas is some free ranged pollo rostisado! GGUUAA!!!!
Just by the looks of this eatery, you would never have known this fine Basque cuisine exist within, or that its closed for the day!?
Typical Basque home. And this one is right by the ocean. Would make a nice summer home. Unfortunetly, this was taken in March and it's Africa cold and wet during this time of the year.
After an awesome well come home meal ...... sipped on some Txakoli, then an helado ....... then walked it off with a stroll on the beach. Too bad I didn't have Txakurra to take the stroll with me. Oh well, you can't have it all

I like these rides a bit more ..............
Is it obvious I have a soft spot for the 1949-1950 Mercs!? As well the 1939-1940 Mercs. Should have kept mine ...... yada yada yada.
Even Dave Kindig of "Bitchin Rides" was on hand. Nice chap.
Now, the following images are of my favorite rides at the show. Be warned ........ have an extra pair of knickers handy.
This ride was probably my favorite. AMAZING is the only word I can place.
Yet another super SICK Merc!

Another year has passed and the list of shows grows by the year. So many that I skip a majority of them. But one show I look forward to is the Grand National Roadster Show. Held annually at the Pomona Fairplex, or as most know it as …….. The Pomona Swapmeet. This is the largest indoor Roadster Show, and by far the best of the best attend this event. Everyone brings their “A” game to this event. Folks from all over the world come to see the crème de la crème rides being displayed here. Needless to say I was rubber necking the entire time there. So many beautiful cars, and tons of Mercs on hand. JODER is all I can say. And TONS of beautiful baby dolls roaming the show. There really isn’t much for me to write about this event/posting. The pictures of the rides speak for themselves. Enjoi ....... Please note, these images were taken January of 2015. Yes I know, I'm on the Late Show!
They even had a few Vintage BMX bikes on display. Czech out this SE Racing Quadangle. BAD ASS!!
This was a cool display with a girl dressed to the ear though with a slight touch of Hussieness
This car was amazing ……….

When ever I cross the pond and want to get into the cool fiestas, all I have to say I'm mates with him.

Since all rooms were booked within the town of Esher, we had to stay in the outskirts, which turned out to be a chore getting out there. Cabs are EXPENSIVE!! Hence = Piratas! So we decided to walk up the road to the bus stop to head into town. While waiting we see this green 75 Westfalia coming around the corner and we all jump out at the bus like lunatics pointing at our VW t-shirts. So the couple pulled over and asked us what the fuck are we doing!? With our broken English accents (Me too) we asked for a lift to the Volksworld show! They thought we tracked all the way from Spain here for the show!? Ha ha ha ha. We kinda did. So off we all went to the Volksworld show.
My last venture to this show was back in 2003? I believe, so it’s been a while. Familiar though. I got to see lots of old mates and made new ones. I also spent some time at the infamous pub named THE BEAR!! EVERYONE was there. It was like as if I were at a sold out WU TANG KLAN concert, though people speaking with that funny accent. REALLY. Any hoot, it was a good time. The show especially. Lots of really cool rides and tons of very familiar rides. And I got to hang out with fellow Barndoor affectionados. I even got to hang out with the Robbie Williams of the VW UK scene ….. Sir Alan Scott lll, whom is actually the Duke of Northampton. REALLY!
Here is a shot of us with the lovely couple whom scooped us up and took us to the Volksworld Show. Standing to my right is my primo, Fer - el mas Gitano de todo Asturias!, Vicente from Madrid and Aldo, also an Asturiano. Venga Chavales!!!
Here are some shots of some cool rides with the very familiar Sur Califas patina mark!
Lots of really cool Rides all over this place. I couldn't stop taking pictures!!! JODER!!!
This Patina monstro belong's to GFK UK's Gavin. Super nice ride.
Here is a shot of my homie Buzz's RHD Standard. A very clean bus with a beautiful stance!
Here's the infamous COOL FLO Panel. A very cool bus.
More GFK UK rides .................
This bad ass Split belongs to my big homie and the main cholo of the GFK UK Chapter ......... DEANO!
Here is a shot of Deano and myself ........... gangsters!!!
Laurent, aka. THE BOSS, brought out his arsenal of NOS parts to this event. By the way, Laurent is NOT French! He is from Brussels ........ it's in Belgium

Back in March I crossed the pond to visit family, friends and take part of a VW Show, The Volksworld show. For this post I’m going backwards. I was actually in España prior to arriving on La Isla Pirata, England. REALLY! So with that said ………. Let’s get down to it.
We flew out from Santender airport, which is located on the northern coast of Spain, and flew into Stansted airport, outside of central London. Kinda like flying into Ontario airport then heading over to Downtown Los Angeles. With the exception of the weather. Ha! Anyhoot, we catch a bus into town and arrive at the central bus station, then hit the tube. (for you non Brits ….. basically for the Yanks, The Tube is the subway system) It’s been some years since I’ve back in these neck of the woods. They speak funny there!? Once pointed in the right direction, off we went to our hostel. But upon arrival ……. GGUUAA!!! This was some hostel. And let me tell you, I have stayed at many hostels but this one was rough! This place reminded me of a prison scene from the movie ……. MIDNIGHT EXPRESS. Yes, a Turkish prison cell. In our room there were about 20 bunk beds but stacked 4 high! This was a good reminder for me as to start spending the cash on a descent hotel. The interesting part of this place was this really prissy girl staying in there!? Stuck out like a sore thumb. Regardless, we made the best of it, un packed and hit the town …… needless to say ….. The pub! But first, let's take PG route and do some sightseeing. REALLY!
Here is a funny shot of Fer and Vicente goofing off on the Telli.
Now this is a little bulls head thingy in a Spanish restuarant my buddy, Vicente, knew of. The head chef is his childhood friend when they were kids in Madrid. ( Fer ...... Que pasa Chaval?? ha ha ha ) Any hoot, they probably made the best Croquetas I have ever eaten!? The best Croquetas in La Isla Pirata!!?? And London to say!!?? Hands down the best I've had.
So a few months ago Cuñado's girl, Yvonne, invites me and my lady to participate in the Del Mar Mud Run. If any of you ever have the opportunity??? DO IT!!! It's so much fun. Regardless if you are out of shape, as I am, you will enjoy it. Here are some aftermath shots.
Here we are ready to get our run on!
Here is a shot of Cuñado and myself right after the end of the course. Though we cleaned up a bit. I look like the typical Gitano from my village of Luanco.
Here we are enjoying some adult beverages after the run. Notice we are both topless!!
Who the heck needs to go to Las Vegas for a pool party when you can hit Comrades for that. Chick's, beers and Ruski's!! Good times.
