I wanted to save these two rides for a separate posting as these two rides are MONSTERS!!! The first one I hold up a little higher due to it's color. It looks like a Dove Blue but it's actually called "Adria blu". That is the 1951. The other is a super MONSTER, a 1949! I really can't say much about them as I'm by far no expert nor will I claim to be one. All I can say was WOW!!!! See for yourselves.
Here is the 1951
And this is the 1949. If you notice, this one has semi-fours on it!!

For all you non Angeleno’s, we had rain this past weekend! Rain! Can you believe that!? Go figure!? But lucky for all the Porsche enthusiast, it didn’t rain on them early Sunday morning/afternoon. So the Luftgekühlt Porsche event was a go! This was the 3rd annual Luftgekühlt Porsche event held in the industrial city of Vernon. Basically, downtown Los Angeles. The two pioneers responsible for this event are Mr. Patrick Long and Mr. Howie Idelson. Aside from the mayhem parking scenario outside, within was an awesome experience. Porsches were on every corner you turned and in every color imaginable! Both vintage and cars with race history were on hand, as well the more modern era rides. A very festive event this is, with a pub and eateries by Clutch on both sides of this massive event. Once one is overwhelmed with all the precious metal on hand you can lounge around in their bar area, but with a view of how’s coming and going. Definitely an event to visit if you are in town. You will not be disappointed. Well, there really isn’t much more to write about so have your bibs placed properly for this drooling session you are about to experience!
And finally ....... I leave you with my buddies, Play Dirty, 1959 chillin at the entrance to the Luftgekühlt.

Here's a shot of Comrade and myself with Paul Wisk of Wisk Restorations, sometime back during the Beautiful Budel VW show down in southern Holland. Paul handed us over the keys to his 1954 RHD "Barndoor from the woods" 23 window deluxe to cruise around in the campground area. This place was poppin!!!
And NOPE! This picture is not flipped. Comrade is driving on the wrong side

As most of you know, I love nature, including all the little critters involved. Where I reside there are tons of birds, one species being the Acorn Woodpeckers. These birds are really cool and can be loud, but only when they fly away. There is a massive tree in front of the house and noticed these large holes but never really paid any attention to them until one day at dusk I heard one of them screaming like crazy! I looked up and saw his little head sticking out from one of those holes on that tree! I was reading up on these birds and learned they live in large groups within these trees. This explains why when one flies out, about 4 others do as well. Really cool site. Also, their social lives are endlessly fascinating – these guys store thousands of acorns by jamming them into these specially made holes in trees. A group member is always on alert to guard their stash from thieves, while the others go cruising or hunting for more acorns. What was really fascinating about this species of birds is multiple males and females combine efforts to raise their young in a single nest! How cool is that.
Here is a link to more information about my little neighbors
And VOILA ........... the entrance to their castle. I think 4 birds live in this burrow? I do know of 2 others on this tree as well.
I'm pretty sure this guy was saying ........... "Watcha lookin at Willis!!??"
