What a great turn out for an unexpected show, well for myself. After a month or so of freezing ass cold weather, the sun finally decided to surface and beam down upon us. There were several car clubs present and new rides I have never seen before. The show was held at Downey high school's parking lot, with plenty of room. K-Earth was also on hand dropping the oldies. Big shout out to all the winners and mad props to the Straight Buggin club for putting on a cool little show.
This Bay Window with lots of og paint and a hint of patina, was the crowd pleaser. It was for me.
I was digging on this beetle as well. I have a soft spot for Dove Blue rides.
This beetle and single wheel trailer won best of show. Nice combination.
This bus was bad ass ....... an early 1955 Wolfsburg Kombi. I hope the owner does some justice to this old bird.
And here is Donny's 1956 Convertible nicely done.

Many of you have been following this blog for some years and know first hand how long I've been on the hunt for a camper. A split window camper was out of the question as we all know, they are very EXPENSIVE! And after touring Europe in my 71 Westy, I figured I'd get one when I returned. But that was a rude awakening upon my return. I noticed TONS of campers out in Europe during my travels and never thought about where they were coming from? They were coming from the Colonies! JODER! When I returned I was on the hunt for one buy gave up really easily and I found out what they were going for. But one day, thanks to Comrade Dougie, I was offered a 1971 Westafalia. I bought it from a gentleman by the name of Inky Ford. He had to sell it as he was being charged for tax evasion and offered it to me for what he had into it. which was almost nothing! He basically gave it away, or gave it to me. This bus is so freakin clean! or as they say in España .......... Joder tio, este furgo esta de puta madre! And literally. This bus still has all of its original interior and is complete! Even the jumper stool and original flooring is still there. Everything is there. It does need some work but its nothing I can't sort out. We plan on taking tons of camping trips on this one and plan a road trip up to Canada eh.

What a way to start the new year ........... Low riders, bombs, bbq and beers. Every year the Majestics low rider club hosts their annual picnic on New Years Day. I've heard of this event for many years but never made it due to serious hangovers. This year Pück and I chilled new years eve and woke up early and headed out to Santa Fe Dam in Irwindale. We got there just a little before noon and the park was PACKED!!! I even heard that after 12:00 noon, they weren't allowing any cars to enter!? I have NO idea how many rides were present as there were modern cars there as well. What a day! If any of you guys ever get a chance to hit this show, DO IT! It's well worth. Anywhere the eye ventured a beautiful old car was there. I've never seen so many 30's bombs in one place, and 40's galore. Any hoot, the pictures posted up in this mug speak for themselves. ORALEEE !!!!!

Well, what a bitch! This was one tough task!? I've dropped in several transmissions, but in buses, but this one was chore. JODER!!! But it looks really pretty sitting in there ......... all nice and powder coated with cad plated hardware. Mounted as well the new rubber pieces they came with back when they rolled off the assembly line. This mug should drive really nicely.
Doesn't she look beautiful!!!!! I mean, LOOK AT HER!!!!!

After installing the main metal brake line, I had to install a new clutch cable. So this meant I had to remove the entire pedal assembly, and I did!! It was pretty beat up and dirty. But nothing I couldn't fix. Once taken apart I could see what I was working with and what needed to be done. It cleaned up pretty nicely.
After I installed both the new clutch cable and throttle cable, I also went ahead and removed the emergency brake cables, cleaned them up nicely and reinstalled them. But I greased them up really nice as I slipped them back in. Did the same with the clutch and throttle cables.
Now I have to clean this area up nicely and fit in the other brake lines and set up the transmission mount before I mount the newly rebuilt transmission.

After going back and forth if the entire brake lines should be ripped out and replaced????? This had to be done. Turns out the mine line from the back to the front was rusted pretty bad and showed traces of it leaking. So we pulled that mug out! And when we did .......... JUNK! ( should have taken pictures of that! PUTAIN! ) Any hoot, the first line of defense was to remove the rear "T" fitting as well and start from there. Once "T" fitting was mounted I went ahead and started the bending process. Kids, don't try this at home. It was a BIOTCH!! After the bending the line was screwed into fitting. Then strapped down all across. Now I had to mount and set up the master cylinder. That was easy. The hard part was bending the line without fucking it up! But the end results were good. Oh, I also installed a new throttle cable. Greased that bitch up really nicely and shoved it all the way in!!!! Next I will clean up the pedal assembly, reinstall it and drop in a new clutch cable.
All brake parts were supplied by WAGEN WORKS .......... http://www.vw-wagenwerks.com/servlet/StoreFront
This was the old "T" fitting with the old jacked up brake lines.
Note the middle portion of the brake line. It looks like someone's booty I know! All torn up and beat up!
Here is the new "T" fitting with the new brake line installed. I also installed new rubber grommets to keep it in place. The way they came from the factory.
Here are shots of the main line inside the beetle. Both front and rear. Came out pretty chee chees.
I also semi installed the master cylinder. Just to mock up the front brake lines. It turned out really good. Those German master cylinders are the SHIT!! VERSTEHEN SIE MICH!!?? I have NO idea why people install junk in their rides?
Is this a BEAUTIFUL shot or what!!!???

Yet another P-Town gathering. Though this was was special. It was a celebration of Bones' debut of his 1954 Single Cab which he's been sitting on for the past 18 years!
Is this guy BAD O DEE or what!!??
Mr Goodies (http://goodies.skynetblogs.be/) stash .......... heading over to Belgium!
This was the most beautiful ride at the show, and my favorite!!

It's a few weeks late, but better late then never. This OCTO was a breeze in comparison to June's meet! 153 buses in total. Nothing in comparison to the turn out this past summer. Regardless, it was a good time. And what BEAUTIFUL weather we also had. I think I like the meet better on Saturday rather then Sunday. The next day was P - Town. Now that was an AWESOME time. Pictures to come ..............

What a great turn out for the first time. Beautiful rides from several clubs showed up and took part of this fiesta. Like always, great time. Bonelli Park was the perfect setting for this gathering. Food galore on the grill. We also celebrated Pück's 22nd birthday. Cake, Piñata and Stripper ........ But we can't show those pictures. The Cambodians showed with their usual act and stuffed everyone. Plan ahead because next year's gathering will be a bigger and better one!
These guys are AWSOME!!! The Cambodian's RULE!!!! They are 'LA HOSTIA' !!!!!

Now here is where the fun started. 3 days of camping! On saturday after the Solvang Treffen we hit the camp site HARD!!! BBQ galore!! Cuñado Earl Nightengale Jr lll was on hand manning the grill. We reserved a camp site for 15 vehicles, all VW's, and was it worth it. The view from our camp site was awesome as well. Come next Solvang Treffen, we will do it again.

Solvang is a little Danish town about an hour north east from Santa Barbara and is held every other year. Kinda of a cool idea. Though this show 10/15 years ago and prior was the SHIT! It's a lot smaller and is now open to lowered/custom rides. Before is was over populated by stock vintage rides. I am SO glad it wasn't Africa hot like it was 2 years ago!!!
Before we took off Comrade Dougie called ans asked to have the floor jack and tools ready upon his arrival. His brake pads were rubbing tight up against the drums and they were SMOKIN!!! Those thing so hot when we pulled if off, the grease was in liquid form. YIKES!! Any hoot, nothing a skilled Siberian couldn't fix. DAH!!!
Here are some cool shots of the town. I kept thinking I was going to run into my Danish buddies, Thomas und Henrik Anderson.

Off we go to Cachuma Lake .................. HOSTIA!!!!!!!!!!
Monday, September 17, 2012
Long time Butcher Shop pal and supporter, Dave Galaspi, showcased his annual bbq extravaganza. And let me be the first to tell you ............ this guys does not hold back! Full on bar with your choice of poison. Taco's with no end. And an amazing gathering of local rides. From DKP rides to full blow drag racers!!! This weekends heat wave was nothing in comparison to the heat these rides were pumping out! The videos were a fraction of the action going on.
This video is straight FUCKING crazy!!! Where else can you see these monsters buring rubber on the streets!!?? Trust me, it's much more intense being right there. Everyone was going crazy when these monsters were tearing it up!! Put your volume on HIGH and kick back and watch this madness.
Yes Sir! Those are the REAL DEAL! Torque Thrust wheels. Apparently these were purchased back in the day when one could walk up to the counter of a car shop and buy them. HOSTIA!!

Some of these parts will be used on the latest project.

Can't get enough of the Vail Lake Camping session. These pictures were taking by Comrade Dougie of Siberia and Maurice of the North Shore of Cambodia. The images of us trailing over the back road to the lake to view the BUS MOVIE, did not have justice. That was one of the highlights of the weekend.
If this event is held again next year and is promoted with time and expertise ............. this can end up being a MONSTER show. Perfect location with everything one can need for the summper camping trip. Dosvedanya!
(czech out Josécio tearing up that pollo!!!)
Here's a shot of Cuñado Earl's Cholo ride.
Czech out lady boy all faded!!!!!!
I look pretty krunk myself ............. that's because I am!!!!
The Crew .......... Cambodians, Barndoor Mafia and the KK Hooligans.
Serg's wheel came off. Word of advice to all of you who powder coat your wheels. Make sure you grind, chizzle or sand off the area where the lug nut sits on the wheel. It doesn't fasten correctly and eventually comes off. Like this. JODER!!! Czech out Danny Dick supervising the job.
JODER!!!!!! Now Poe's Standard took a shit! Me cágo en la Hostia!
Cirilo is stoked cuz his ride didn't take a shit!
AU REVOIR !!!!!!!!!!!

Here are some of the gifts I received and HOLY SHIT is all I can say. Especially with Cuñado Earl Nightengale Jr lll. He gave me an NOS in the box fold up camping / picnic table. My uncle, Iñaki Gorka, gave me this almost unused Coleman lantern from the 60's. I also got some gifts from Siberia. DAH! From Comrade Dougie. Russian Vodka, but from the airport (for Amerkanski's!) Prahvdah!!

Sunday, August 26, 2012
The Butcher Shop recently started offering apprenticeships. After many applications only a few were considered. One was Wolfgang LeCrec, of Biárritz, French Basque Region, France. A very highly qualified individual with a resumé which stretches all across Europe. Also worked under the supervision of Basque wiz, Borja Saiz of Bilbao and the French division of the Butcher Shop, Yohann Veilpeau. Just to name a few. Her first task was to dissasemble splindles and rebulid them, grind off old broken clips and and new ones. Her response was ............ PUTAIN! Are you kidding!? ................ She finised in an hour, while we stuffed our faces with cheesebugers and Hummus.
Yes folks, that is a 16" Barndoor wheel!!!
Viola! Finished product. Now off to the powder coater they go!
Friday, August 24, 2012
This past Sunday, Pück and I headed over to Irvine for the Summer Jamboree to hangout with our homies, The GFK. While there, our Comrade, Dougie, hooked us up with this awesome og woodslat roof rack with tons of patina for Pück's Beetle. This is the perfect accessory for the beetle.
Saturday, August 04, 2012
After tearing down the entire drivetrain, all the hardware was sent off to get cad plated. This plating preserves the hardware and the life expectancy is a very long time. Basically, you won't be having to change any of this stuff any time soon. All the brake hardware as well were plated. And George also hooked it up with the brakes shoes. This mug is coming along...........

Today we removed the gas tank, master cyclinder, brake lines, steering cupler and spindles. WOW! A lot of work but we are getting there. And CZECH OUT the inside of front nose!!!! I get a phone call from CRG about the DINO'S BOMB SQUAD car show in Lincoln Park. Since it was close by and going down in my old hood, Lincoln Heights ...... why not!? I met up with Pück & $Mike and rolled in. This car show had everything! VW's, Low Riders, Bombs, Low Rider Bikes, Rotarios and Harley's. Also on site were GFK's Bones & 'Not my Richie'. Grills were on everywhere cooking up the 'carne asada'. What a great turn out.
Sunday, July 08, 2012
This time we took all the front brakes apart and started in on the gas tank and the spindles. Tons of little shit to knock out before we even think of getting this on the road. Lots to do but its coming along. We'd like to get it road worthy for the Solvang Treffen come at the end of September?? We will see .......... long way to go.
Saturday, July 07, 2012
I said after the ClassicS I would start on Pück's 1963 Beetle. So upon my return from EUSKAL HERRIA for a wedding, I started tearing down the drive train. What a BITCH!!! This bettle sat roughly for 10 years or so? So during that time period Squirrels decided to make it there home. I evicted them!! Also, we decided to do it on a hot sunny afternoon ........ JODER!! After some elbow grease, sweat and banging our hands on tools and the car itself, we managed to pull both the motor and transmission. The transmission was dirtier then some dirty booty's I know Anyhoot, we got them out and off the transmission went to my The Butcher Shop to get rebulit. I need to check the motor out to see what we need to do to it? And the brakes as well.
Check out CHEWBACCA giving us a hand.
CHEWBACCA is taking a break but got bit ticked when we asked him to give us a hand
